Job Opening for Transit Director
Lee-Russell Council of Governments is seeking a Transit Director to manage the Lee-Russell Public Transit (LRPT) and Phenix City Express (PEX) systems. Lee-Russell Public Transit operates a demand response system in the City of Auburn and Opelika and limited access in Lee and Russell Counties. Phenix City Express operates a fixed route and paratransit service in the City of Phenix City, Alabama and limited service in Columbus, GA. The systems combined have a total of 33 vehicles and 26 employees.
Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operation of both transit systems; negotiating and managing user and provider contracts; managing relations with passengers; developing and monitoring budgets; ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinating advertising/marketing efforts; preparing state/federal reports and grants; working with community officials and citizens in promoting transit systems and COG; providing direct supervision to Transit Department to include transit management staff, bus drivers and interns; attending professional meetings; and performing other duties as required.
Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, public administration, urban/community planning business administration or closely related field. Three to five years of experience is required in operating and managing a transit system. Experience with utilizing RouteMatch Scheduling software and/or other bus scheduling software is a plus. Must have strong managerial, administrative and organizational skills.
Salary Range: $47,591 - $71,384
